DukaanBox

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 21 August 2026

DukaanBox turns the phone already on your counter into a UPI soundbox — instant voice alerts the moment a payment lands, and clean collection reports for every dukaan in India.

Introduction

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the DukaanBox mobile application (“App”) and the dukaanbox.in website, support channels and related services (together, the “Service”). DukaanBox (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides the Service. By accessing or using the App or the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you disagree, please do not use the App or the Service.

Acceptance of Terms

1.1By installing, accessing or using the App, you confirm that you accept these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any other guideline or policy we publish for the Service.

1.2We may revise these Terms. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to give notice, and the “last updated” date above will change. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the revised Terms.

Service Description

2.1DukaanBox reads incoming UPI payment notifications on your own device, announces the amount aloud in a language you choose, and records it in a collection report held on that device.

2.2DukaanBox is not a bank, a payment system, a payment aggregator or a wallet. It does not initiate, process, hold or settle payments, and it never asks for your UPI PIN, bank credentials or OTPs. Every payment happens entirely inside your own UPI app and your own bank.

2.3We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any UPI application, bank, or NPCI. Their names and marks appear only to describe which apps DukaanBox is compatible with.

2.4An announcement is a convenience, not a receipt and not proof of payment. Confirm the payment in your UPI app or bank statement before handing over goods where the amount matters.

Accounts & Eligibility

3.1You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding agreement under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 to use the Service.

3.2If you use DukaanBox for a shop or business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.

3.3You are responsible for the device the App is installed on, for keeping it secure, and for the accuracy of any details you give us.

Device Permissions & UPI Alerts

4.1The App requires notification access on your device in order to read incoming payment alerts, and uses your device speaker to announce them. You grant this permission yourself in Android settings.

4.2It may also ask to be excluded from battery optimisation, so that Android does not close it during a working day. This is optional and the App will run without it.

4.3You may withdraw any permission at any time in Android settings. Announcements stop when you do.

4.4The App reads notifications only to announce and count payments. It does not read your messages, contacts, photos, call logs, or notifications from apps unrelated to payments.

4.5Announcements depend on conditions outside our control — your UPI app delivering a notification, your device’s power and network state, and Android’s background restrictions. We are not responsible for an alert that is missed, delayed, duplicated or misheard.

Acceptable Use & Restrictions

You agree not to:

5.1Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to disguise or misrepresent a payment.

5.2Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to extract the App’s source code.

5.3Interfere with the Service, or attempt to access accounts, devices or data that are not yours.

5.4Resell, sublicense, rent or commercially redistribute the Service without our written consent.

5.5Impersonate DukaanBox or its staff, or suggest an association or endorsement that does not exist.

User Content & Conduct

6.1Anything you send us — a support message, feedback, or a screenshot — remains yours. By sending it you allow us to use it to answer you and to improve the Service.

6.2Do not send us your UPI PIN, passwords, OTPs, or full card or bank account numbers. We will never ask for them, and no genuine DukaanBox message ever will.

Subscriptions, Purchases & Billing

7.1DukaanBox is free to download and use. Any paid plan we may offer in future will display its price, billing period and renewal terms before you pay.

7.2Paid plans are sold and billed through Google Play. Google handles that transaction under its own payment terms; we never receive your card or UPI details.

7.3We will give reasonable notice before changing the price of a plan you are on. You may cancel before the change takes effect.

Termination

8.1You may stop using DukaanBox at any time by uninstalling the App.

8.2We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, or use the Service in a way that risks harm to other users or to us.

8.3Sections that by their nature should survive termination — intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law — continue to apply after it.

Intellectual Property

9.1The DukaanBox name, logo, App, website and their contents belong to us and are protected under Indian and international law.

9.2We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the App for its intended purpose.

9.3Third-party names and logos shown on our site remain the property of their owners and are used nominatively, to show which apps DukaanBox works with.

Disclaimers & Warranty

10.1The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

10.2We do not warrant that every payment will be announced, or announced immediately.

Limitation of Liability

So far as the law allows, we do not accept liability for indirect or consequential harm — lost profit, lost revenue, lost goodwill, or lost data — however it arises out of your use of the Service. That includes an alert you did not hear, an alert that reached you late, a decision you took on the strength of what an announcement said, and any disagreement between you and a customer or a payment provider.

If a court finds we are liable despite the paragraph above, what we owe is capped. The cap is whichever is larger: ₹1,000, or the total you actually paid us for the Service during the twelve months before the claim arose. Since DukaanBox is free to use, that second figure will usually be nil. Nothing in this section removes a liability the law does not permit us to remove.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless DukaanBox, its officers, employees and affiliates from any claim, liability, loss, damage, cost or reasonable legal fee arising from your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

Eligibility & Representations

You represent that the information you give us is accurate, that you are not barred from receiving the Service under any applicable law, and that you will use DukaanBox only for a lawful business or personal purpose.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition or transfer of our business, and will notify users before their data moves.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

Indian law governs this agreement, and Indian rules on choosing another country’s law do not apply to it. Any dispute belongs to the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and to no other court. Please write to us before you begin proceedings, though: most problems turn out to be something we can simply fix.

Refund Policy

DukaanBox is free to use. Where a paid plan exists and a refund applies, it is handled under our Refund Policy, which explains both Google Play purchases and anything we bill directly.

Communication Consent

By using the Service you agree that we may contact you about it — service notices, security alerts, and replies to your own requests. Marketing messages, if any, will always offer a way to opt out, and opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages.

Modifications to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights we will make that clear rather than quietly editing the page.
